Upon completion of this session participants will be able to plan a well-designed showcase event to get more participants into their programs.

Effective Behavior Management

This training is designed to help direct-care staff and administrators learn practical, effective, and research-based strategies for managing challenging behaviors.

Participants will learn how to identify why children engage in disruptive behaviors and practice managing the behaviors, using effective behavioral strategies. Specific topics include practicing strategies to increase ‘good’ behavior, giving effective instructions, and active ignoring.

This three-hour training will help attendees learn the factors needed to develop an evaluation plan for their programs. Participants will also learn factors important in determining if and how to select an evaluator and the questions. The training aims to answer the following questions:

• Why should you have an evaluation plan? What are the evaluation goals?
• When should you develop an evaluation plan?
• What are the different types of stakeholders and what are their interests in your evaluation?
• How do you develop an evaluation plan?
• How to setup a timeline for evaluation activities?
• What products should you expect to get out of the evaluation?
• What is the purpose of hiring an external evaluator?
• How to define the role of an external evaluator?
