Champions for Children The Children's Trust will honor “Champions for Children” in Miami-Dade County to highlight the importance of making the well-being of children the top priority of our community. By providing recognition to individuals who have dedicated considerable time, knowledge, expertise or resources on behalf of children, The Trust hopes to motivate others to work toward improving the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.
Champions for Children 2008 will take place Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 at the Jungle Island Treetop Ballroom. More than 800 people are expected for this gala event. Awards will be presented by veteran journalist and program host Michael Putney. Here are the following award winners for 2008:

The Children's Trust Out-of-School Conference
The Children's Trust Out-of-School Conference' is a 2-day training event designed for out-of-school program providers serving grades K-12. Each conference we features new workshop topics, presenters, and exhibitors. Each agenda features workshops designed specifically for administrators and site directors. CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS
The Children's Trust Family Expo! Fun for the Whole Family
The Children’s Trust Family Expo hosts a family festival featuring activities and entertainment for the entire family in an effort to provide parents with direct contact with health and social services, as well as educational opportunities. The event in years past has attracted more than 30,000 visitors throughout the weekend. Activities include: facepainters, clowns, stiltwalkers, magicians, storytellers, arts & crafts, bounce houses, music and dance performances, workshops and classes for parents, child fingerprinting, injury prevention, programs for children with special needs, Pre-K registration, KidCare outreach, after-school programs, child seat safety demonstrations, puppet shows, raffles, appearances by well-know characters (Jimmy Neutron, The Rugrats, Super WHY! and Clifford the Big Red Dog), mobile units offering community services and much more. The first 1,000 children receive free backpacks and the event is free and open to the public.
