Applications are currently being accepted for all the program areas identified. Apply now for any of these areas. You can apply for more than one area.

Volunteer reviewers will be assigned to review teams led by The Children's Trust staff. Each team is expected to review five applications. You may choose to be on more than one team.

Yes; training is required. Specific training dates and times will be posted on the website's calendar. You will also receive a personal invitation if you are selected as a reviewer.

An application review includes reading, understanding, and entering scores and comments in the online system. This is estimated to take on average 3-5 hours per application.

Review periods are typically two weeks, with some initiatives having multiple review periods.

Sure. You can review the solicitation, which is available in the Grant Opportunities page. The materials include the review tool that will be used for scoring.

At the end of the review period, team members will participate in a required debriefing meeting to discuss and compare their independent ratings and ensure that all scores and comments are fully justified. The debriefing is a public meeting; applicants or other interested parties may attend but may not participate in the meeting.

Following the debriefing meeting, The Children's Trust staff conducts a final review and makes recommendations of awards to the board of directors.

Expertise is not required. However, an attempt may be made to match you with your areas of interest or experience.

We cannot offer monetary compensation, but for those needing it, we can offer community service hours. Moreover, you will have the satisfaction of being part of selecting high-quality programs that serve children and families within your community.

No; these are expected to be individual, independent reviews. The solicitation process, including the review, is subject to a Cone of Silence, in accordance with Section 2-11.1(s) of the Code of Miami-Dade County. This limits communication and information sharing during the review process.

Applicants may not serve as a reviewer in the same solicitation for which they are an applicant. Applicants from one funding area can serve as reviewers in other solicitation funding areas, and this is an excellent way to become familiar with The Trust’s review process. All reviewers complete a conflict-of-interest form prior to starting the process to ensure there are no perceived conflicts.

Graduate-level students are eligible to review.

Yes, reviewers can receive community service hours.
